The Simple Genius of Old Spice…

Unless one has been living under a space rock without electricity for the past few weeks, chances are you have seen the hilarious Old Spice ads starring a handsome, shirtless gentleman having a rather intimate conversation with the women of America about how her man could smell like this rogue. Now, I could sit here and write about the brilliance of the comedic timing and writing but what has been rather striking to me are the core principles at work here in this advertisement.

In 2007, Old Spice (a Proctor & Gamble brand) made a daring move that shook up Madison Ave when they hired the Wieden & Kennedy Agency. The smaller collective was best known for their assertive, daring ads -amongst which were Nike’s iconic “Just do it.” campaign.

As a product based company, Proctor and Gamble has long capitalized on the efficacy of it’s products, and used the old-school idea of straight comparison (my brand is better than brand X) to convince consumers their product is the best to buy. The Internet entrepreneur is a product based company as well. Except that product is not detergent or deodorant, it’s YOU Inc.

Back to the Old Spice ad. So what is it about this commercial that has resonated so astoundingly with consumers all across the globe? As I type this, the commercial has received over 4.4 million views on YouTube (talk about going viral). One could argue it’s the pure comedic quality of the commercial, but I would argue it’s something much more simplistic than that.

1. Consumers want you to: “Talk with them, not at them” The character is constantly speaking directly to the audience. Engaging and prompting even your very movements at home (look down, now up…where are you?). This type of conversation keeps the audience attentive, relaxed, and psychologically establishes an immediate bond.

2. Invention of Personality You are what you present. Authenticity stems from an unbridled presentation of your personality. It does no one any good to be overly reverential about yourself, take yourself too seriously, or worse be obviously reverential and taking yourself too seriously! If you want people to know your product or service is fun, rewarding and simple. Be fun, rewarding and simple in your ads!

3. Brand Building Laboratory Brand building is always an experiment. No profitable company, in the history of the modern world, has maintained the exact same marketing or advertising strategy from start to finish. Break rules, try new things, let your imagination guide your experimentation and most importantly of all, be yourself! Who knows what you might come up with!

By the way, I’m on a horse. Have a great weekend.

Arbonne International is in fact a long standing and very successful network marketing company. They have been around for over 20 years and are serious competitors in the MLM industry. They main products that Arbonne focuses on is skin care products as well as different cosmetics products.

They are based in California in the United States and has more than 200 different types of products ranging from acne creams to anti-aging creams for women, men and children. They also have products in the essential aromas section. These products range from bath soaps to gels to candles to oils.

They are considered an extremely successful company, and even though they are not a billion dollar company, they still generate revenue in excess of $35 Million USD per year.

How To Choose A Marketing System

The marketing style you choose for your new business is critical. It will be one of the determining factors in the success of your business. Choose carefully!

I started in Network marketing in 1998. At that time most people in the business used marketing techniques such as contacting friends, work associates, and family to promote the business. We also gave business cards to everyone we could, we put flyers on cars and more. The vast majority of contacts we made were completely uninterested in our product or business. It was very nonproductive and resulted in a lot of rejection.

There is still a place for person to person marketing but I’m much more selective when I do it. My primary business deals with discount travel so I like to approach people who are already in the travel and tourist business, such as travel agents or Bed and Breakfast owners and this has been quite effective but there are a limited number of these that I can contact.

Currently the most productive marketing system for MLM’s and other Internet marketing is Attraction Marketing. The Internet immediately broadens your area of influence to include virtually the whole world. It also allows insulates you from local problems such as economic recession or political problems. The other thing that Internet/Attraction Marketing provides is the freedom to do your work from anywhere you can access the internet.

Attraction Marketing 101

Attraction Marketing is a system of elements that makes people aware of your business and in the process, generates some income for you, while at the same time selects out the individuals who will be most likely to succeed in your business. The majority of this is done on “autopilot”, so you are able to bring many more people through the system than was possible using older techniques. The other, and really most important aspect of Attraction Marketing is personal branding. You must become and present yourself as an expert and leader in the field you represent. This system does that for you. Remember that in MLM people do not join your business, they join YOU! When you have established this system and branded yourself, you will have qualified prospects knocking on your door.

Your mission is to introduce people to the system and allow the system to sell the product and business. The system is composed of various parts that create awareness, give information, and market the products and business.

This marketing system can be structured in a number of ways. I prefer to use my blog as the central component. Then I use a variety of methods to bring prospects to my site. Here are some of the tools and techniques that can be used to attract people to your blog or site.

Free

Content/Article Marketing Forum Marketing Free Classifieds Social Media: Facebook, My Space, Twitter, etc. Video Marketing Blogging

Paid

Pay Per Click (PPC), Google et al Solo Ads List Builders Paid Classifieds Other paid Advertising

I recommend you include one last element to the system. I have a program that trains and provides the tools so almost anyone can duplicate this system. It really is the finishing touch to an already elegant system.

When you can attract potential prospects, brand yourself as a leader, and train your associates to do the same, your business will explode!

It’s A Wonder Anyone EVER Succeeds In MLM!

I promise to the the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I’m am not a Network Marketing success story. I’m not living on Easy Street, cashing fat residual checks.

…yet. ;-)

I’m an active participant in a networking business and I think it’s the greatest business opportunity in the world today. I will achieve financial independence through MLM.

It’s not my dream to live like J.R. in Dallas. Multi-million dollar mansions and Rolls-Royces don’t interest me. I have better things to do with my life. My business will allow me to money and time to enjoy my friends and hobbies, contribute to worthwhile causes, and send my kids to college.

One of the things that turns lots of people off about network marketing is that so many sponsors make it sound like a GRQ, a Get Rich Quick opportunity. The truth of the matter is that NOT EVERYONE ASPIRES TO BEING RICH. Why don’t more people understand that? (Don’t get me wrong. I LIKE material goods. I LIKE “toys”. But being rich in and of itself isn’t the most important thing to me.).

I believe that most people who want to enjoy a healthy residual income from MLM are far less money motivated than is commonly thought. It would be wise for those who are serious about building an MLM business to consider the possibility that

…the vast majority of MLM participants make less than $500 per month. If they hear about making $10,000 to $50,000 per month, they simply can’t see it as a realistic possibility.

…most people are not type-A personalities who have boundless energy and enthusiasm about changing their lives. They have jobs, kids, and other concerns. They can only take on new tasks a little at a time.

…even though America was built by small businesses, they need time to think of themselves as business owners. 78% of all MLMers have always been employees and the responsibilities of owning a business can seem intimidating.

I remember watching a presentation by a suntanned, pinkie finger diamond-ring wearing, $1,000 “suit” not long ago. This man was telling the audience how easy it was to get stinking rich in his program. He drew circles on the board and smiled his blindingly white smile and, to be honest, he had half the crowd eating out of his hand. The other half had glazed-over eyes and they were preoccupied with thoughts of “American Idol” and dinner.

The outcome was predictable. I’ve seen it time and time again: 90% of the audience would go home, eat dinner, and talk about how they’d wasted their evening listening to a Scam Artist. 10% of them would sign up on the spot and of that 10%, 90% would never make a penny in that business. This is why MLM has a questionable reputation.

I only go to opportunity meetings to remind myself how fake most people’s claims are. I can’t handle the lies and B.S.. I’ve almost never heard anyone say,

“the truth is that you won’t make much money for six months, maybe longer. Any money you make you’ll put back into your business. This really is a BUSINESS, after all. You’re going to go through a period of learning new skills for a while and my job is to help you through the tough parts. If you do the things that are proven to work you can build a full-time residual income in months or less. Once you do that, you won’t have to worry about losing your job, ever again.”

That’s what I’d tell you if you were interested in my business-building system.

Network building requires a focused commitment over a long period of time. The truth is that there are a few opportunities where you can make some money right away, but they never last more than a few months. If building a business was easy, everyone would do it.

Do yourself and your sponsor a favor: find out everything you can about his business before you sign on the dotted line. Life is too short to waste it on pipe dreams and fool’s errands. Ask the hard questions. Find out what kind of training they offer. Ask what kind of systems they have in place to ensure that you’ll be able to succeed. You’ll be doing everyone a favor!

MLM is a fantastic opportunity for “average” people to participate in the free enterprise system. It can provide you with all the material success you’ve ever wanted. But it’s not for everyone, and you deserve to know the truth before you sign up.

If you love the idea of residual income and network marketing, You should take a look at “MLSP”, the generic (suitable for any company) training video system. Enhance your chance for MLM success! Grab a totally unique version of this article from the Uber Article Directory
